Job Description

 

AOI/Defectivity Principal Engineer

 

Skyworks is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) / Defectivity Engineer with experience to develop, implement, maintain and improve AOI and Visual Inspection processes to ensure quality and reliability of SAW Filters during Technology Development and New Product Introduction phase. You will work with a multicultural and cross-functional team through the technology development and new process introduction, like Process, Product, Yield, Quality Engineer and Equipment Vendors.

The AOI/Defectivity Engineer will be part of the SAW Technology Integration Team and drive the AOI process/equipment development.  You will have frequent interaction with counterparts in Japan and Singapore.

 

The job will involve the following functions:
•    Define and implement AOI process for SAW Wafer Substrate and in-line process defectivity assessment/detection.
•    Work cross-functionally to understand the process specificities, product requirement to define inspection criteria.
•    Develop and optimize AOI algorithms to detect defects, faults, patterns.
•    Define methodologies to configure and calibrate AOI equipment (MSA, Equipment Matching).
•    Analyze inspection data, configure reports/dashboard and provide feedback to process engineer.  
•    Benchmark/evaluate new AOI equipment / solutions and stay updated on industry innovations.
•    Define, maintain and audit AOI processes (recipe settings, configurations); train and support production staff accordingly.


Education, Experience, and Skills
•    Master’s Degree in Electrical engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
•    Minimum of 10 years of experience in AOI systems for Semiconductor industry.
•    Knowledge in image processing techniques and algorithms (including SPR, ADC).
•    Knowledge in statistical analysis, process control and related tools.
•    Knowledge in machine learning, AI in optical inspection is a plus.  
•    Additional Experience in SAW/BAW AOI is a plus.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, both technical and interpersonal.
•    Pragmatic and flexible attitude with a results- and data-driven can-do mentality.
•    Works autonomously, well-organized, with a good attention to detail, while setting high standards in all aspects of the work. 
•    Excellent communication skills, professional level of written and verbal communication in English.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $124,400$235,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
