Description

As a Principal Quality Engineer, you will  report to the Quality Systems manager coordinating and directing the quality assurance programs and systems designed to ensure outstanding business performance and design controls are consistent with established standards by performing the duties listed below. This position is expected to be located in Newbury Park CA, or Irvine CA offices.


Responsibilities
Support Quality Management System Activities
•    Ensure the integrity of the quality management systems.
•    Propose process improvement opportunities based on continued analysis and monitoring of metrics, goals and objectives. 
•    Generate/maintain procedures, work instructions and forms, as necessary to ensure standardization of practices across Skyworks.
•    Work with the different members of the organization to incorporate necessary automotive and IATF 16949 specific requirements and controls into Skyworks Quality Management System.
•    Help review, catalog and deploy automotive customer specific requirements. 
•    Provide IATF 16949 training to core business process owners.
•    Act as core business process coordinator to help lead IATF 16949 deployment across multiple sites.
•    Manages Quality Systems Compliance in the Product Realization Process.
•    Support improvement projects as needed (e.g. IATF 16949 deployment, customer specific requirements, etc.).
•    Maintain applicable quality systems metrics monthly and manage actions when corresponding goals are missed. 
•    Present applicable quality systems metrics and feedback to Quality Systems Management and other management for routine meetings and management reviews as applicable. 
•    Provide QMS platform administrative support as needed (Doc Control, CAPA, Audits, etc.).

Internal and External Audits
•    Manage internal audit program (i.e. first party audits)
o    Schedule internal audits per annual plan covering all applicable core processes and shifts.
o    Prepare and perform the scheduled audits (or works with auditors to prepare/perform these audits). 
o    Write up/send audit report and CAPAs, as applicable, and follow up on all audit findings (Deficiencies and Opportunities), to ensure containment and improvement actions had been determined, recorded, implemented and evaluated for effectiveness. 
o    Conduct training for lead/volunteer auditors, as needed.
•    Facilitate Customer audits as needed (i.e. second-party audits)
o    Review audit agenda and work with customer to address any issues.
o    Schedule meetings with affected individuals to support agenda.
o    Accompany customer throughout audit process to support audit objectives.
o    Process audit report and any required CARs or PARs in quality system database.
•    Support Quality Certification / Surveillance audits (i.e. third-party audits) 
o    Review audit agenda and ensure applicable core business processes are being covered and work with registrar to address any issues.
o    Schedule meetings with affected core business process owners to support agenda.
o    Accompany auditor throughout audit process to support audit objectives.
o    Process audit report and any required CARs or PARs in quality system database.
o    Manage follow up activities with registrar.

Corrective / Preventive Actions
•    Responsible to coordinate and facilitate problem solving activities (i.e. 8D responses, Five Why analysis, Fishbone diagrams, etc.).
•    Ensure cycle time goals are achieved.  
•    Provide training and guidance as required.

Production Part Approval Process

•    Responsible to manage Automotive PPAP Packages. 


Training
•    Provide QMS training to individuals as needed to facilitate QMS deployment and maintenance.
Contract Review
•    Review of Customer Specific Requirements and Customer Requirements as applicable.
•    If gaps are identified, provide analysis, and reconcile before closure.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with 12+ years of experience in Quality Systems Management with Semiconductor background  and Power Meters.
  • ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Certification on Quality Core Tools (i.e., APQP Control Plan, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA).

 

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • ASQ Certification (e.g. CQA).

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $124,400$235,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
