An Ingot Operator’s primary duties are to produce custom ceramic ingots through a variety of  processing tasks that increase in complexity as experience and process knowledge is gained through mentorship and on the job training.  The operator will interact with supervisory personnel and engineers to insure that processes are performed in accordance to written and verbal instructions.  Communication of processing parameters, non-standard observations and measurement results are essential for the success of the Ingot Processor and the operation.  The basic processing operations are listed below, with the Ingot Processor performing one or more of the following:


  • Ingot Forming
  • Ingot Firing
  • Ingot Diameter Lathing
  • Ingot Length Lathing
  • Ingot Inspection
  • Ingot Packaging

The Ingot operators will maintain a clean, organized work area to minimize contamination potential.  The operator will clean all equipment and the entire area prior to the end of each shift.  The operator must report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to their supervisor or engineer.



  • Must demonstrate safe work habits
  • Operate under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift 10 lbs. and occasionally 55-60 lbs.
  • Ability to work in dusty environments using a respirator
  • Ability to work in a confined space for cleaning of equipment
  • Ability to work in wet processing conditions
  • Standing 8 hours
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work with attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate records electronically and written
  • Exposure to powders and liquids
  • Work in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Ability to work on self-directed teams


Preferred competencies:

  • Strong Computer literacy and skills
  • Mechanical understanding
  • Interpretation of process instructions
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Operation of the following equipment:
    • Isostatic presses, periodic kilns, lathes and various measurement devices


Required education:

  • High School or equivalency
