Skyworks is seeking a Power Amplifier Design Engineer for its Mobile Solutions (MSB) Division in Andover, MA design center. Job Description

 

The PA designs will be implemented in GaAs HBT, SiGe, or SOI technologies co-packaged with Switches, LNAs, and passives.

 

The role will include interfacing with a range of stakeholders to formalize the product specifications and understand system requirements. Development activity will include linear and nonlinear simulations covering a range of power levels and operating classes. Designs will include the use of EM tools while also working closely to supervise IC layouts on the path to design reviews and tapeouts.  Supervision of lab evaluation and tuning of prototype hardware will be part of design validation on the path to product samples.  The candidate should have experience with the complete cycle of product development for high-performance, high-volume semiconductor products and have an eye for details while understanding the importance of time to market.

Job Requirements

 

  • MSEE and min. 5 years design experience.

  • Familiar with amplifier modes of operation: Class A, AB, C, F, F-1

  • Familiar with wide instantaneous bandwidth modulated waveforms and impact on PA designs.

  • RFIC/PA design experience using GaAs HBT, SiGe, including bias networks, passive components including couplers and matching networks.

  • Expertise with Keysight ADS, and/or Cadence and associated simulation engines and data displays.

  • Familiarity with die level thermal design techniques and considerations.

  • Familiar with DPD, and memory effects, and how those impact PA design.

  • General packaging knowledge and understanding of laminate, wire bonding, WLCSP techniques, SMT components and multi-die FEM considerations.

  • Layout floor-planning to optimize performance, layout supervision, post layout simulations.

  • Ability to manage the assigned project with minimum supervision.

  • Strong Lab experience to perform IC / Module characterization.

  • Familiar with the use of load pull techniques to evaluate device and PA performance.

  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements schedule.

 

The following qualifications are desirable but not required:

 

  • An understanding of basic analog design theory, basic analog circuits, loop stability analysis.

 

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $108,500$206,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
