Job Description

Skyworks Solutions is seeking a Senior design engineer responsible for the development of RF power amplifiers for wireless front end module products in a dynamic, supportive environment.  The PA designs will be implemented in GaAs or SiGe HBT technologies and co-packaged with other ICs.  The role will include interfacing with a small team of project engineers throughout the development process to ensure product specifications are successfully met. IC development activity will include linear and nonlinear simulations covering a range of power levels and operating classes. Designs will include the use of EM tools while also working closely to supervise IC layouts on the path to design review/ tapeout.  Supervision of lab evaluation and hands-on tuning of prototype hardware will be part of design validation on the path to product samples.  The candidate should have a general understanding of product development flow in high-volume semiconductor products and have an eye for details while understanding the importance of time to market.

Desired Experience:


  • BS and 5 years of experience or MSEE/Ph.D. with related internships.
  • Familiar with amplifier modes of operation: Class A, AB, C, F
  • Familiar with general PA bias circuit design considerations.
  • RFIC/PA design/tapeout experience in Silicon CMOS/BiCMOS or GaAs HBT,
  • Experience with passive components including couplers/baluns and matching networks. 
  • Expertise with Keysight ADS, and/or Cadence and associated simulation engines and data displays.
  • Experience with layout planning & Cadence layout tools is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with die level thermal design techniques and considerations
  • Ability to execute project tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of on chip ESD protection strategies.
  • Strong Lab skills to assist with characterization and debugging using RF test equipment.
  • Familiar with the use of load pull techniques to evaluate device and PA performance.
  • Team player with a focus on product requirements schedule.
  • Solid Oral and written communication skills.




  • Perform feasibility analysis / simulation for new product development
  • Design/Simulate fully integrated power amplifier ICs including package effects
  • Work with cross functional team including program management, analog design, layout, and product/test engineers as part of product development.
  • Participate in die level floor-planning
  • Perform EM simulation of IC & package environment
  • Prepare/present design reviews during the development process
  • Manage design tradeoffs on performance, risk, yield, testability and cost.
  • Support hardware validation team and analyze data to back-fit and improve product performance
