This includes power and multi-path T/R switches, low noise amplifiers, matching circuitry, filters, SMT components, integrated passive devices (IPD), MIPI controls, and an LDO. The candidate must understand the characteristics of these FEM building blocks in a Multi-chip Module (MCM), create physical layouts, trade off their performance, and optimize the FEM performance to meet or exceed customer specifications. Responsibilities also include package/substrate design & EM Simulation, floor planning, and working closely with IC designers or building block designers. You will also work closely with the Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) and IC Design to implement new/advanced packaging.  You will also participate in Lab evaluation and hands-on tuning of prototype hardware are required for design validation.

Responsibilities

•    Lead module developments with a focus on meeting system requirements and balancing performance trade-offs
•    Work with IC designers to floorplan and co-design the FEM package/MCM substrate and provide the package models to IC designer for design simulations
•    Design and layout passive circuits such as matching circuit, baluns, filters, and directional couplers with MCM FEM package or IC substrates using MCM layout tools
•    Work with MCM layout designers to fabricate the MCM printed circuit boards and other types of FEM packages
•    Support hardware validation and analyze measurement data as part of performance optimization
•    Provide data summaries, capture performance gaps, and generate performance reports to the design community and product development teams.

Qualifications

•    BS with 8+ years of experience, MSEE/Ph.D. with 5+ years
•    Good understanding of RF systems and exposure to wireless standards testing requirements
•    Experience with passive component designs such as matching circuits, baluns, filters, and direction couplers
•    Familiar with RF design simulation engines (Keysight ADS) and its data displays
•    Strong EM skill with tools such as (HFSS, FEM) and/or (EMX, Momentum, Sonnet)
•    Exposure to advanced PCB tools (e.g. Allegro/APD)
•    Familiarity with thermal design simulations and considerations
•    Basic knowledge of ESD protection strategies
•    Strong lab skills for characterization and debugging
•    Familiar with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Digital Receivers, Noise Figure Analyzers and Load-pull
