This position is based in Taiwan reporting to a manager in Austin, TX USA.

Skyworks’ isolation devices safely connect high voltage systems to the outside world and drive cutting-edge GaN and SiC power conversion systems. Our patented technology used in data centers, EVs, solar, and even rocket ships has earned us design wins among the biggest and most respected companies in these markets. As an Applications Engineer, you will be part of a versatile team that supports all areas of product development, including product definition, generation of customer design collateral, support for design validation, and direct and indirect customer support through our global team of field engineers. This is a high-impact role in a dynamic work environment, and your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities

Collaborate with IC design, systems, and marketing teams and engage with customers to gather inputs to define new Power and Isolation products

Provide technical assistance to Chinese, Taiwanese, and APAC ODM customers, with a focus on datacenter power solution, both in-person and via our customer support system

Communicate with HQ R&D and AE for NPI progress or technical issues

Work closely with partner customers to develop reference designs, particularly  for datacenter power solutions using Skyworks products
Develop customer evaluation hardware that provides best-practice layout guidelines for maximum EMI control
Develop creative demonstration hardware and solutions to support pre-sale customer demonstrations and trade shows
Author and maintain written collateral, such as application notes, user guides, and whitepapers
Author and deliver written, video, and live training material to customers and our field teams
Develop custom hardware solutions to help customers solve tough problems
Conduct detailed electrical analyses of competitive solutions to facilitate understanding of the competitive landscape

Required Experience and Skills

You should have excellent written and oral communication skills and should be comfortable in explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, including more senior engineers and management teams

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent
5+ years of professional experience
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals
Ability to prepare technical reports to provide clarity to customers when written communication is ineffective
Strong and methodical problem-solving skills
Understanding of basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, etc.)
Some working knowledge of a high-level programming or scripting language
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Willingness and eligibility to travel internationally on occasion to support critical customer issues

Working proficiency in spoken and written English

Desired Experience and Skills

Understanding of power electronics, such as power converters and variable-frequency drives

Working experience in  server Power Supply Unit (PSU) design
Understanding of PCB design tools, techniques, and processing
A great attitude with an eagerness to learn and the ability to adapt to changes in plans and new technical challenges
