Job Description
From Power-over-Ethernet controllers to isolated gate drivers, the Power Access team supports a broad range of products within Skyworks' exciting and innovative product portfolio. This versatile and growing team is heavily involved in the full product development life cycle, including product definition, firmware development, validation, and support for key customers in the power industry. In this high-impact role as an Applications Engineer, you will:
- Design, develop, and test new and existing firmware and software Power products
- Create reference designs and evaluation software demonstrating key product features
- Collaborate with IC design, systems, validation, and marketing teams to develop new Power products
- Follow a document-driven software quality process that encompasses the full software development life cycle
- Work with partner companies in developing reference designs using Skyworks products
- Author and maintain application notes, user guides, and whitepapers
- Find creative solutions to help customers solve tough problems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 0-3 years of experience
- Strong embedded software design, implementation, and debug skills
- Experience with high-level embedded programming and scripting languages (C/Python)
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Disciplined approach to work and ability to explain technical concepts to wide range of audiences
- A great attitude with an eagerness to learn and ability to adapt to changes in plans and to new technical challenges
Preferred Skills
- Mixed-signal knowledge (DSP, ADCs, MOSFETs, etc.)
- Knowledge of USB, SPI, I2C, etc.
- Experience with embedded Linux or other RTOS
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools
- Experience with project management tools (Jira, Confluence)

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $74,800 - $135,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
