Description
Seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager for building and leading a group of high caliber design engineers architecting and developing complex analog mixed signal, high precision analog ICs for Power, Isolation and Infrastructure applications. This person will work in a design group at the forefront of “Powering” the A.I., EV and Energy revolution, working to develop technologies that will revolutionize various end markets by enabling new levels of power efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a team of designers in the high precision analog/power IC design group.
- Develop new product ideas, architects and develops analog/power ICs that meet market requirements.
- Acts as a technical chip lead, manage chip and block schedule as needed to ensure on time tape out.
- Works on resourcing and planning projects to make sure high-quality designs are delivered on time.
- Communicates with cross functional/inter disciplinary team as needed to make sure the team is aware of the assumptions and progress made by the design team.
- Set the technical standard for architecture, design, layout and verification of circuits, systems, algorithms, etc. to meet product requirements.
- Responsible for interviewing and hiring full-time engineers and interns for the group.
- Manage and mentor design engineers in the group.
- Balance innovation with execution: to ensure that the projects are delivered in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate good judgment in solving a broad range of issues, based on an advanced understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the quality of custom layout, including overseeing the work of layout designers.
- Research design techniques through familiarity with previous product design choices, technical publications and seminars
Required Experience and Skills
Education Requirements
Master of Science/Engineering and 12+ or Phd and 8+ years of developing high performance analog, mixed signal and power solutions in CMOS/BiCMOS/HV technologies.
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of MOS transistors and analog circuit design
- Knowledge of complex AC/DC analysis (poles, zeros, compensation), loop dynamics and feedback systems
- Knowledge of device physics, HV MOSFETs(LDMOS, EDMOS etc) and CMOS/BiCMOS fabrication processes
- Comfortable making complex technical judgements at the chip level that involve tradeoffs in risk, area, power, schedule and performance.
- Experience in chip level simulation strategies that make a rational balance between schedule and risk.
- Previous design experience with a wide range of high precision analog and complex power IC design problems
- Experience with end-to-end design flow from product definition to high volume manufacturing including support of production test, applications validation and manufacturing problem solving.
- Experience mentoring and leading a team of analog and power IC designers that has delivered silicon success.
Additional Skills (one or more of these are highly desirable)
- Knowledge of high voltage processes and design in BCD and/or SOI type processes
- Advanced MOS Device modeling skills (noise, excess thermal noise, DIBL)
- Exceptional laboratory measurement skills (analog, high power systems etc.)
- System knowledge of DC-DC converters, PMICs, Inverters etc
- Knowledge of circuit simulation tools, layout verification tools, Matlab, and UNIX
- Familiarity with quality systems documentation and procedures
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $126,500 - $241,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
