Description
Seeking an experienced Principal RF Design Engineer for developing complex mixed-signal ICs for RF and automotive applications. The position requires a strong analog mixed-signal design background including a strong understanding of RF architectures and concepts.
Responsibilities
- Architects, designs and verifies circuits, logic, systems, algorithms, etc. to meet product requirements
- Determine design approaches and parameters
- Develops innovative new designs for patenting or protecting as trade secret
- Demonstrates good judgment in solving a broad range of issues, based on an advanced understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures
- Responsible for custom layout, including overseeing the work of layout designers
- Reports on design results through design reviews, in accordance with company quality requirements and resolves action items generated as a result of these reviews
- Attends design reviews to provide input and learn from other designers' experiences
- Research design techniques through technical publications and seminars
- Supports marketing in product definition
- Having a wide-ranging experience uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective way
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate the activities of other personnel
Qualifications
Education Requirements
BSEE +10 years of experience, or MSEE +8 years of experience or PhD in EE +5 years of experience
RF experience preferred
Minimum Requirements
Previous direct design experience in RF and Analog/Mixed-signal circuits in DSM processes
Knowledge of CMOS fabrication processes, transistors and parasitics
Knowledge of RF building blocks eg: LNA, Mixer, PGA, ADC, DAC, VCO, PLL, Voltage/Current references
Knowledge of RF system design eg: noise figure, IP2, IP3, AGC, filtering, frequency conversion, feedback systems
Knowledge in signals, systems, transforms, noise analysis
Understanding of layout tradeoffs for performance and size
Knowledge of circuit simulation tools, Matlab, and UNIX
Proficiency in layout verification, DRC, LVS
Additional skills (one or more of these are highly desirable)
Knowledge of digital design flows
Laboratory measurement skills
Familiarity with quality systems documentation and procedures
Excellent written and verbal skills

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $126,500 - $241,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
