Job Description

 

Skyworks’ Timing Division is focused on creating a new generation of clock, oscillator and network synchronization products. Our team designs system-on-chip hardware and software for precision timing chips. These chips drive growth in 5G infrastructure, optical networking, data centers, medical and broadcast equipment through best-in class jitter performance and advanced synchronization features. The Timing Firmware and Software team is comprised of the brightest and most innovative engineers in the semiconductor industry, working on a variety of different technologies such as IEEE1588 network synchronization, FPGA reference designs, and PLLs to name a few. Timing Firmware and Software team works very closely with design and systems engineers as well as lead customers to bring these solutions to market.

Skyworks seeks a versatile embedded software engineer, who is fluid with Linux applications, to work on the software and tools used in our cutting-edge network synchronization technology. As part of our timing firmware and software team you will help create and extend the code that presents a consistent, well-structured, well-documented, high-quality interface to our timing solutions.

 

This position can be located in Austin - Texas, Nashua - New Hampshire or Ottawa - Canada.
 

 

Responsibilities


 
•    Participate in the design, development and testing of our software platform as a member of the timing products solutions team.
•    Design and maintain the software targeting such applications as 5G, data centers, and telecommunications.
•    Architect and design new code.
•    Tune code for optimal resource utilization, reliability, performance and energy efficiency.
•    Maintain and implement automated test environment and regression tests.

Experience


•    BS/MS in EE/ECE/CS or similar.
•    8+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development
•    Solid C Language skills.
•    Experience working in Linux systems is required, including GCC toolchain and Cross-compilation for Embedded platforms.
•    Experience with GIT and version control.
•    Experience with general OS concepts of multi-threaded applications, semaphores, mutexes, and message queues.
•    Experience with full software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
•    Linux driver development is a plus.
•    Familiarity with programming network sockets is a plus.
•    Familiarity with Python is a plus.
•    Experience with IEEE1588 PTP protocols is a plus
•    Experience specifying hardware requirements and working with hardware engineers is a plus.
•    Proficiency with electronics bench test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers is a plus.
•    Experience with hardware description language is a plus.
