Requisition ID: 67634

Summary

The Senior Director, Foundry Operations reports to the VP of Supply Chain Management. This position owns end-to-end (roadmap inception to EOL) execution of Skyworks external foundries and is responsible to lead a small team of experienced Fab planning, operations and production control engineering disciplines to ensure robust, resilient and seamless planning and execution of operating plans across all fab’s and technology nodes.

This position will communicate regularly with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure supply plan is feasible, on track to schedule, and monitor foundry execution to meet requirements and in compliance with commercial agreements and our end customer requirements.

Responsibilities

This person will be the DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for any and all matters that ultimately result in execution at all of Skyworks’s external foundries, with the objective of achieving planning and execution that is robust, resilient, agile (low/no latency to detect and act), seamless, dynamic and responsive to the needs of the business.

The responsibilities include prevention as well as management and recovery of any factory excursions. Some examples of specific responsibilities include

Roadmap Activities: Along with foundry engineering, quality and sourcing, lead audits and roadmaps for foundry engagement to ensure a healthy future selection of foundry partners and technology nodes. Develop checklists and dashboards for audits.

NTI & NPI Activities: This person will play a key role in planning and execution of New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, in close partnership with technology, quality, central engineering and business unit teams.

Capacity Planning: Participate in capacity planning and provide validation of planning parameters based on detailed audit and analysis of tools, labor, materials, systems and IE best practices (or lack thereof). This will include capacity by technology node at each fab, cycle time, PO queue and lot start management, engineering/hot lot planning and management.

Analytics, Data Management & Communication: Develop automated tools, reports, analytics (charts, using tools like power Power BI) and dashboards that monitor execution at each fab in a real-time, measure performance vs commit (on capacity, cycle time/OTD, DPML and everything else) and establish business processes to communicate these effectively both internal to Skyworks, as well as with the suppliers.

Excursion Detection, Recovery and Prevention: Setup tools and methods to detect any excursions early. Drive internal and external actions to minimize the impact and expedite recovery, working with all key internal stakeholders (foundry engineering & SQE, CQE, supply chain, demand management, PE/TE, REL/Qual/FA, Mexicali Ops, offshore Ops). Responsible to kick-off and lead cross-functional incident management team, coordinate all actions to ensure recovery of clean supply, to minimize escape risk, and to mitigate financial impacts (including Skyworks factory line stoppage). Drive actions for improvements and prevention of excursion in future, including a fan-out of the lessons learned across all suppliers, fab’s and technology nodes.

Escalations and Communication – Foundry, Internal & Customer: Responsible for managing all escalations, in a timely manner, with all internal and external stakeholders. External stakeholders could be foundries, suppliers to foundries (e.g. substrate or tool vendors), or Skyworks’ customers. This person will be the key liaison and communication window for matters of foundry execution.

MTTD and Latency Elimination: Measure, monitor, and drive actions to systematically improve Mean-Time-To-Detect, and Mean-Time-To-React latency. These actions include both foundry, as well as internal measures to detect signs of trouble (aka “smoke”) real-time, and to drive containment, disposition and recovery actions with minimum latency.

Benchmarking: In close collaboration with foundry engineering and SQE, apply fundamental understanding of semiconductor manufacturing process, tools, key bottle neck analysis, in-depth knowledge of fab planning, execution and process control tools to benchmark each foundry, fab and technology node. Establish and present benchmarking framework, along with the outcome.

Supplier Development: Along with sourcing, foundry engineering and quality establish metrics for suppliers performance, provide reviews and lead the action plans to improve suppliers.
