About Business Unit

External Sourcing is part of Global Sourcing in Skyworks' Technology and Manufacturing Group, which has responsibility for the End to End sourcing management process leading to best-in-class External Manufacturing cost structure from cradle to grave.  By driving business model alignment and strategic partnership, the aim is to establish a long lasting competitive cost base and win-win commercial relationships with our suppliers without jeopardizing supply security and driving best-in-class cost structure by early involvement in Design cycle.  Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insights to BU stakeholders regarding pricing, vendors, and technology trends. Leverage business intelligence to assist the business in planning for key strategic decisions, e.g., new product or design wins.

Summary

The 2024 Summer intern starting in May or June will be working as a core team member of the Foundry Sourcing team.  The Sourcing Team comprises of Key relationship manager of supplier base (“Virtual” GM). Key escalating path supporting our internal partners (BU, Ops, Technology) to the supply base. Ensuring revenue support through capacity security and Driving constantly towards achieving competitive COGS for BU partners through win-win relationship . Deep core competence in supplier landscape and negotiation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Student Intern position can include:
•    Gather and analyze financial data. The go-to person for cost analysis and will be responsible to prepare reports to help management make better decisions. To do this job well, we’d like you to be well-versed in data and financial analysis, and have strong attention to detail.
•    Determine standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs and also highlight the deviation in the adders
•    Prepare detailed reports, both periodically and ad-hoc
•    Help management make important decisions based on costs and benefits (e.g. investments, market growth, pricing changes)
•    Develop a business cost tool that analyses cost structure of wafers and products (existing and future) so as to aid business case analysis and negotiations
•    Using commercial and internally-developed tools to perform statistical data analyses in support of yield improvement, problem resolution, and other activities.
•    Creating or updating documentation on tools and processes.

Qualification and Education Requirements


•    The candidate must be available to work full-time in the Skyworks Irvine/Austin office for the Summer 2024 term.
•    The candidate must be working on a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance,Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar degree for the duration of the internship.
•    The candidate should have strong business acumen and good data analytics skills. Knowledge of semiconductor can be advantageous 
•    We will not consider students who have already graduated.  

 

Preferred Skills:
Additional skills that would benefit the candidate include applied statistics, experience with engineering data analysis systems, programming skills, and semiconductor manufacturing knowledge.

 

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
