Skyworks’ isolation devices safely connect high voltage systems to the outside world and drive cutting edge GaN and SiC power conversion systems. As a Senior Validation Engineer, you will be a key contributor to bringing our new products to market by ensuring our products meet the defined performance and functionality and that meet our customer’s performance demands. This is a high-impact role in a dynamic work environment, and your scope of responsibilities will include:

  • Write validation plans based on marketing and product requirements and specifications
  • Design and develop engineering PCBs (schematic capture, layout review) and test fixtures
  • Specify and configure laboratory test benches
  • Automate validation and characterization test flows through software and scripting
  • Support initial product checkout and debug
  • Characterize product performance across process, voltage and temperature
  • Report bugs, performance to the broader product team including marketing and design teams
  • Collaborate with our cross-functional teams and will report project status/progress

 

Other key aspects of the position:
You should have excellent written and oral communication skills and should be comfortable in explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences including more senior engineers and management teams.

This role requires gathering and documenting requirements from the cross functional organization in addition to being able to independently create engineering proposals from the requirements.
You should have a disciplined approach to your work. We track and administer our work using task management tools and other collaboration tools to properly document work plans and work outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related degree)
  • 5+ years industry experience and 3+ years of experience in this or similar role
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuit fundamentals
  • Experience with the use and automation of laboratory test equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems (hardware and software).
  • Printed circuit board schematic capture and layout using data processing and visualization tools

 

Preferred Skills
Understanding of power electronics such as power converters, variable frequency drives, etc.
Experience with product characterization and/or silicon validation is strongly preferred
Experience with scripting and data visualization tools (Python preferred)
Knowledge of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) test techniques and standards
A great attitude with an eagerness to learn and facility to adapt to changes in plans and new technical challenges

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $85,900$164,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
