Job Description

Skyworks offers the industry’s broadest Timing product portfolio of crystal oscillator, clock generator, clock buffer, jitter attenuator and network synchronization products along with PCI Express (PCIe)-compliant clock generators and buffers. Our patented technology combines best-in-class frequency flexibility with the lowest jitter in the industry, delivering quick-turn, customized solutions that simplify board design, eliminate discrete components, and maximize system performance.
As a Senior Systems Engineer of Device Performance team on the Timing division, you will be a key member of a team responsible for portions of our new product introduction (NPI) cycle, which sees a product transition from its pre-silicon definition and design to its post-silicon validation and characterization to guarantee high quality products that meet the industry’s highest performance demands.
Responsibilities
This is what you will do:
Pre-silicon stage:

  • Design and develop silicon validation test benches. This includes collaborating with the IC design team on which types of tests need to be conducted upon silicon arrival for block-level validation, selecting test equipment and additional hardware (cables, attenuators, adapters, etc.), planning and assembling the benches, and developing test flows ahead of first silicon to guarantee a successful IC bring up.
  • Collaborate with designers based on product requirement specifications. You will own the design of PCB schematics and layout, and you will help evaluate the boards through TDR and VNA measurements.
  • Generate a list of software requirements for our software engineering team to interface with the evaluation boards.

Post-silicon stage:

  • Assist the IC design team with first-silicon block validation tasks in the laboratory.
  • Device characterization, including the planning of a test strategy to guarantee full coverage of datasheet electrical specifications, designing and assembling the characterization benches, developing the characterization test suite, determining the product test conditions and running device characterization across Process, Voltage and Temperature (P,V,T) corners.
  • Data analysis. This involves post-processing the characterization data, conducting a detailed analysis, and reviewing the analyzed data with the design, applications and marketing teams.
  • Delivery of datasheet collateral. Collaborate with the product test engineering team to assess full coverage of all device specifications, write full characterization reports, deliver final datasheet specification tables to the marketing team, and review product launch material and documentation.

Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the improvement of test infrastructure through software and hardware optimizations.
Document lessons learned and ensure these lessons are applied in future programs.

Technical Expertise:
Develop solutions for repeatable and reproducible sensitive tests in noisy test environments.
Develop algorithmic data analysis for analog and discrete data types.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering + 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering + 3 Year of experience
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and methodologies.
Experience with device characterization and/or silicon validation.
Experience with the use and automation of laboratory test equipment is preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware (PCBs, issues with equipment, etc.) and software.
Ability to solder components on boards is preferred.
Proficiency in the use of data processing tools (Spotfire, R/S, Python, etc.).
Proficiency in object-oriented programming (.NET, Python, etc.).
A great attitude with an eagerness to learn and facility to adapt to changes in plans and schedules.
A disciplined approach to your work. We track and administer our work in JIRA and use other collaboration tools such as Confluence in order to properly document our plans and work outcomes.
