Job Description

Why the position matters 

Join the team in Budapest that's removing cost and complexity from broadband infrastructure power delivery, while continuing to improve efficiency.  From enterprise Ethernet switches to wireless access points to security cameras, Skyworks' Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solutions enable the rapid adoption of broadband power delivery with world-class cost and efficiency.  As an Applications Engineer on the Power team, you will be a key contributor to our customer's success by ensuring our products meet the defined performance and functionality and that meet our customer’s performance demands. This is a high-impact role in a dynamic work environment, and your responsibilities will include: 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with IC design, systems and marketing teams to define new Power and Isolation products 
  • Provide technical assistance to a global customer base, primarily via our customer support system, but occasionally in-person 
  • Develop customer evaluation hardware that provides best-practice layout guidelines for maximum EMI control 
  • Develop creative demonstration hardware and solutions to support pre-sale customer demonstrations and trade shows 
  • Author and maintain written collateral, such as application notes, user guides and whitepapers 
  • Author and deliver written, video and live training material to customers and our field teams 
  • Develop custom hardware solutions to help customers solve tough problems 
  • Work with partner companies to develop reference designs using Skyworks products 
  • Conduct detailed electrical analysis of competitive solutions to facilitate understanding of the competitive landscape 

 

Other key aspects of the position 

  • Must be comfortable explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences including more senior engineers and management teams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
8+ years of professional experience 
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals 
Strong and methodical problem-solving skills  
Understanding of power switching circuits 
Understanding of PCB design tools, techniques and processing 
Understanding of basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, etc.) 
Some working knowledge of a high-level programming or scripting language 
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools 
Willingness and eligibility to travel internationally on occasion to support critical customer issues 
A great attitude with an eagerness to learn and facility to adapt to changes in plans and new technical challenges
