Skyworks Cedar Rapids design center has leading R&D and product development capabilities and is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer with expertise in RF/microwave, RFIC design, and PA product development to meet rapidly increasing customer demand. When you join our team in Cedar Rapids, you’ll join a uniquely collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community who support each other working across our domestic design centers creating cutting edge products for global markets. You’ll be paired with an experienced mentor to help support you as an integral part of a team responsible for designing multi-chip modules.

 You will be part of a multi-discipline team developing PA, RF switches, front-end modules for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market. Candidates will have opportunities to participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support. Job Responsibilities

  • Must understand basic RF/Microwave concepts such as s-parameters, impedance matching, intermodulation distortion, gain compression and have academic knowledge in Passive Circuit design, Low Noise or Power Amplifier Design. 
  • Familiarity with single ended and differential amplifiers as well as, knowledge of different classes of amplifiers (A/B/AB/C/E/F/Inv F).
  • Working knowledge (intern/co-op) experience utilizing simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, Momentum, HFSS, Microwave Office and be familiar with lab instruments such as (Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meters, etc.)
  • Knowledge in semiconductor technologies such as RF SOI, SiGe, pHEMT, HBT, GaN  

Job Requirements


  • Must possess a BSEE/MSEE/PhD Program in the field RF/Microwave
  • Basic knowledge of RF circuits (transmission lines, discrete and distributed RF circuits, passive RF circuits, RF Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Power Amplifiers. 
  • Eager to learn and get hands on design experience with highly integrated RF circuits for the wireless industry . 
  • Basic knowledge of RF measurement instruments (Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Load-Pull, DPD, etc.).  
  • Eager to get exposure to various state of the art semiconductors (SOI, pHEMT, SiGe, HBT, GaN).
  • Team Player and willingness to work in a fast-pace environment to meet schedules.
  • Basic knowledge of RF measurement of commonly used figures of merit (scattering parameters, noise figure, stability, intermodulation, gain compression, AM/AM, AM/PM, efficiency).  
  • Solid oral and written communication skills. 
  • Experience utilizing RF/Microwave simulation tools (Keysight ADS, Momentum, HFSS, Microwave Office, Cadence Virtuoso).
