About the Business Unit

Skyworks AI Solutions group is seeking team members to help innovate market-specific mixed-signal system on chips (SoCs) for audio and wireless applications spanning smart speakers and microphones, wired/wireless headsets, and intelligent gaming controllers.  Our advanced audio, voice, speech and artificial intelligent solutions combine breakthrough ultra-low power analog circuits, highly efficient power management and custom hardware accelerators to enable smart acoustic signal processing and AI functionality.  Come be part of a team that is changing the way the world communicates and who is at the forefront of audio and wireless innovation

Position Summary

  • This position is for a summer 2025 internship on Wireless Gaming Systems Performance.
  • Be mentored while contributing to improve the performance of wireless systems.
  • Possible topics for this internship include wireless audio and data, system performance, impact of interference in RF applications etc.
  • This work will include developing tests, scripting, debugging, and documentation of your work.
  • Expect to collaborate with other team members and review your findings regularly with the group.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with system applications engineering team, improve the performance of wireless systems.
  • As an intern, you will be exposed to the tools and workflow of our team.
  • Tasks can include performance assessment of various wireless applications and protocols, writing code to automate tests and data collection and analysis.
  • Report bugs on bug tracking tools, writing test reports, presenting findings.
  • The intern will be expected to present their results, in both meetings and a final design document.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on debugging embedded software systems, measurement, and data collection with common lab equipment: familiarity with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Python programming experience for test automation and data collection, code to interact with typical lab equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of Wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Proprietary etc.
  • Basic understanding of RF Systems
  • Self-learning, problem solving and verbal and written communication 
  • Nice to haves: Experience with soldering SMT components, Knowledge of digital wireless systems and hardware

Qualification and Education Requirements

Successful candidate is enrolled in a graduate STEM engineering degree program (Masters or PhD) or Bachelors student who completed at least 3 years of undergraduate STEM engineering degree program prior to the start of internship.

Internship Details

The summer internship duration is 10-12 weeks.  Candidates would expect to start in May or June 2024 and complete their internship in August or September 2024.

 

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
