Job Description


The Capacity Planning Manager is responsible for developing and implementing processes, action plans and models to ensure capacity and supply is available on time and used effectively. 
To be successful, the incumbent must be capable of operating at strategic and tactical levels while navigating a highly complex series of manufacturing, production, and sourcing levels across wide range of component operations. 
Critical experience includes development, implementation and management of capacity models, demonstrated capacity improvements, anticipation of cross functional business requirements, customer focus attitude, P&L awareness, management of large amount of data in complex manufacturing and supply chain environments and successful achievement of targeted business results.


Job responsibilities:

  • Summarize and evaluate unconstrained and constrained demand inputs for supply and capacity planning models and processes
  • Generate and manage models to drive capacity/supply planning decisions and manufacturing and sourcing capacity allocations
  • Work with Sourcing, Industrial Engineering and Master Data teams to create and maintain up-to-date capacity models 
  • Develop and test capacity models and what-if analysis 
  • Maintain capacity models to support production schedules in collaboration with Planners, Buyers and Schedulers
  • Proactively measure and identify capacity gaps and provide options to mitigate, manage and improve. Create and drive remediation plans. Track, report and manage use of allocated capacity and available supply 
  • Team up with Industrial Engineering and Sourcing teams to ensure sufficient capacity is available on time to cover demand requirements 
  • Collaborate with Supply and Demand Planning teams to support efficient use of capacity to enable attainable production schedules
  • Work to resolve labor, material shortages, backlog, and potential schedule interruptions
  • Ensure provided capacity is used to develop executable master production schedules in accordance with demand needs and inventory guidelines
  • Conduct extensive analysis to optimize capacity and supply plans, assessing and documenting risks, and recommending tradeoffs and solutions
  • Use predictive analytics through modeling data to identify optimization opportunities, and drive effective decision making
  • Develop and manage structured process to balance capacity usage and allocation across sites and technologies. Control supply and source options to optimize supply chain network and demand satisfaction
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations to qualified and transfer products to optimize supply and capacity
  • Partner with business units, demand management and site engineering groups to translate business needs into capacity requirements ensuring enough capacity is available and on time to support NPI ramps and product transfers
  • Use engineering plans and production constrains to maintain attenable capacity models
  • Proactively facilitate operational level and executive strategic level meetings
  • Participate in process improvements to optimize costs and improve efficiencies
  • Translate actions to analytics to strategy and vice-versa 
  • Initiate and drive cross-functional projects from inception to completion



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience, or Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Preferred SAP
  • Deep understanding of lean manufacturing and theory of constrains
  • Experience developing and using capacity models in a manufacturing environment 
  • Proficient management of large amount of data
  • Detail understanding of master production scheduling, capacity planning and demand forecasting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate and drive groups and meetings
  • Experience with S&OP, JIT, MRP
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Visualization and deployment of value stream mapping


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Semiconductor Supply Chain 
  • MBA and Engineering combination
  • Graduate degree/studies in science, business, or engineering, strongly preferred
  • APICS certification
  • Strong presentations skills in data analytics, data trends and charts
  • Extensive SAP knowledge
  • Data base management, SQL, Python
  • Kinaxis Rapid Response
