Job Description

Skyworks Solutions seeks a highly skilled device modeling engineer who will play a key role in the development of Skyworks’ BAW technologies. The typical modeling work will include development/automation/integration of Skyworks’ BAW resonator model incorporating the latest process technology. He / she will work closely with international and multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations and time zones. 

Location: Irvine, CA 

Key Responsibilities

Focus on BAW technology research and development for next generation products. 

Define and implement modeling strategies and roadmaps for BAW filter design, simulation and verification. 

Construct electro-thermal device model in collaboration with other team members. 

Perform and analyze data from both simulations and physical experiments. 

Integrate the model extraction flow and implement the model in PDK. 

Establish and enforce best practices and standards for model documentation, data management, and quality assurance. 

Support design community on product development and troubleshooting of performance challenges. 

Organize various internal projects with functional staff responsibility as a project leader. 

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in engineering, physics, or related field. PhD degree is preferred. 
  • MS and 6 years electro-thermal modeling (or related) experience 
  • Understanding in either semiconductors and/or acoustic devices. 
  • Deep knowledge in electro-thermal models and simulation techniques for thermal/ruggedness analysis.  
  • Device simulation skills utilizing FEM tools such as COMSOL and ANSYS. 
  • Experience in material thermal conductivity measurement/extraction.  
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as python, C and MATLAB. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, both technical and interpersonal. 
  • Knowledge of capturing failure modes through simulation and estimating product lifetime is a plus.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $112,500$215,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
