Overview

This is a temporary assignment beginning in February 2025 and ending in September 2025.  The position is for a Payroll Specialist who will assist our US Payroll team in the day-to-day operations of processing bi-weekly US payroll in- house using SAP for 2,500 employees across the US.  The position is full time, 5 days a week in our Irvine office.  The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who is self- motivated with a customer service mindset. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures payroll is processed with speed and accuracy
  • Process off-cycle checks for timecard adjustments as well as term checks which can be highly confidential in nature.  Ensures final pay is calculated correctly
  • Responds to employee inquiries in a timely, courteous and professional manner and resolves and escalates issues as required
  • On-boards new hires and sets up appropriate tax requirements 
  • Audits employee pay records and reconciles totals by department, location, company code, etc.
  • Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly
  • Works with IT personnel to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Assists with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation
  • Collects data and prepares reports for Payroll, HR, Legal and other departments as requested

Required Experience and Skills

  • 2+ years processing payroll in a large multi-state environment (2,500+ employees)
  • Excellent understanding of payroll processes, systems, and practices with knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations
  • Ability to research, evaluate and analyze inquiries relating to payroll issues and take appropriate action to resolve
  • Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated, team player, with a strong work ethic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines with attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Well organized and able to effectively prioritize and balance multiple projects and processes simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Proficient in computer usage and related software applications, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • SAP experience is a plus
