Requisition ID: 76555
Description
As a Principal Validation Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing next-generation, highly integrated RF Front-End (RFFE) modules for mobile applications. You will collaborate with System and RF Module Engineers to translate customer specifications into product requirements at both multi-chip module (MCM) and building block levels, including advanced RFICs and complex filters. Your work will involve collecting and analyzing test data to validate designs and guide future development directions. This position requires hands-on lab work for prototype evaluation, troubleshooting, optimization, and characterization to ensure timely sample delivery and successful product ramp.
Responsibilities
Validation & Development
- Develop comprehensive test plans for RFFE modules and high-power amplifiers, covering metrics such as P1dB, ACLR, harmonics, ruggedness, and efficiency.
- Execute validation using advanced RF test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, load-pull systems).
- Analyze test data and provide actionable feedback to design teams.
- Validate RF amplifiers using GaN/GaAs technologies for LTE and 5G NR applications.
- Perform load-pull analysis, impedance matching, and thermal optimization for maximum efficiency and ruggedness.
Automation & Data Analysis
- Implement automated test scripts for efficient data collection and reporting.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure designs meet wireless standards (LTE, 5G NR) and regulatory requirements for high-power RF systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with design, systems, and product engineering teams to accelerate development cycles and resolve technical challenges.
Required Experience and Skills
Education
- Position requires a BS degree and 12+ years of overall experience
- Preference for Master’s degree or PHD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals and circuit theory.
- Solid knowledge of module building blocks: Power Amplifiers, LNAs, RF Switches, Couplers, Filters, and Multi-chip Modules.
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment and load-pull systems.
Software Skills
- Proficiency in RF simulation tools (ADS, Microwave Office) and scripting languages (MATLAB, Python, C/C++).
Problem-Solving
- Ability to interpret complex test data and optimize designs for performance and reliability.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Familiarity with GaN/GaAs device technologies and thermal management strategies.
- Knowledge of wireless standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience with digital predistortion (DPD) techniques and high-efficiency PA topologies (e.g., Doherty, Envelope Tracking).
- Familiarity with test tools such as GUTs and STC.
