Job Summary
Skyworks Solutions seeks an RF Characterization Engineer who will provide support in the development of Skyworks’ acoustic SAW/BAW technologies. This engineer will support the R&D group in terms of characterization and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and experience in working with test methodologies and analysis for semiconductor and/or MEMS devices. The candidate will have strong scripting ability in Python and Matlab, ADS is a plus. Knowledge of BAW/SAW devices is a big plus. The candidate will have the ability to function effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-geographic environment and must also be able to collaborate well with other engineers to achieve divisional objectives. The candidate will help to manage and sustain the characterization lab located in Irvine CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Advance the characterization and analysis of RF MEMS devices including S-parameters, hot S-parameters, load-pull, IMD & harmonics generation, noise emissions, and thermal measurement.
- Support characterization and analysis on existing advanced metrology systems including acoustic vibrometers and thermal imagers.
- Develop new test solutions required to understand the capabilities and limits of state-of-the-art MEMS devices.
- Partner with suppliers and industry experts to evaluate superior RF test solutions to obtain reconfigurable test systems with a high dynamic range, or a low noise floor, and/or other critical test metrics.
- Determine component specifications required to enable advanced measurement systems.
- Create dedicated test and analysis scripts on Python/Matlab to enable automation in on-wafer and PCB testing.
- Manage laboratory activities and acquisition of laboratory equipment and components.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in engineering is required
- Minimum of 8 years of direct relevant experience.
- Demonstrated skills in advanced RF characterization -- S-parameters, hot S-parameters, load pull, IMD & harmonics generation, noise emissions, and thermal measurement.
- A proven track record as a team player on an engineering team, preferably with experience functioning effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-geographic engineering environment.
- Deep understanding in scripting, especially with Python and/or Matlab, as well as ADS.
- Understanding and knowledge electromagnetic theory and circuit design.
- Knowledge in either semiconductors and/or acoustic devices.
- Knowledge in semiconductor process or MEMS technology is desirable.
- skills in data analytics are desirable.
- Demonstrated strong communication /presentation skills.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $112,500 - $215,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
