Summary

The Mobile Solutions (MSB) team at Skyworks develops industry-leading, highly integrated solutions for next generation mobile platforms supporting the world’s leading smartphone manufacturers.  Our design engineers have diverse expertise and utilize a broad range of technologies (SOI, silicon CMOS, GaAs, IPD, BAW, TC-SAW and pHEMT) to create differentiated transmit and receive products including high performance LNAs, couplers, power amplifiers, antenna switch modules, digital/analog controllers, passive matching and acoustic filtering for leading-edge 3GPP standards. As a SAW/BAW Filter Design Engineer you have the ability to work on unique and advanced technology alongside exceptional Acoustic Filter Design talent in various sites across the globe.  You will work closely with other cross functional design teams to develop mobile and 5G applications.  There is tremendous growth potential and ability to make a significant impact to the front end module performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design filters for integration in RF modules for a wide variety of applications and platforms under demanding project schedules
  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team, develop new BAW and SAW filters to meet Skyworks best in class performance while satisfying critical size and cost requirements
  • Follow Skyworks best engineering practices to ensure reliability, sustainability and delivery of a high production yield
  • Drive new architectures and new IP development to continuously improve filter performance in order to maintain a competitive edge for Skyworks products
  • Conduct design reviews and present quantitative data to demonstrate compliance to internal or customer specifications based on simulation and measured results
  • Collaborate with module and system teams to set realistic yet ambitious goals for filter performance including, but not limited to, insertion loss, out of band rejection, reliability, ruggedness and nonlinear distortion. You will be interacting with said teams to regularly report design progress to ensure success of the filter/module development
  • Regularly interact with technology and fab teams to devise and refine test procedures to guarantee not only compliance to specifications but also to capture low ppm defects

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS + 8 years related work experience or MS + 6 years or PhD + 3 years
  • Skilled in BAW/SAW filter design and product execution
  • Strong background in PA/LNA filter co-design
  • Prior experience in EM simulation of filters or multi-chip modules (MCM)
  • Deep understanding of RF fundamentals such as impedance matching, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity and stability
  • Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS, Cadence Virtuoso and 2.5/3D EM simulation tools such as Momentum or HFSS
  • Impeccable problem solving and lab debugging skills from prototype to mass production

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cellular RF systems
  • Ability to engage and mentor junior engineers      #LI-DB1

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $108,500$206,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
