Technical Director - Filter Design
In this impactful leadership role, you will lead a filter design team responsible for developing filters, as well as integrating filters and multiplexers into front-end module products for the highly competitive cellular handset market. These modules will encompass power amplifiers, RF switches, SAW/BAW filters, duplexers, multiplexers, and analog bias controllers. Candidates will provide technical leadership throughout all phases of filter product development, including product definition, technology selection, LNA/PA filter co-design schemes, MCM co-design, tapeout coordination and tracking, and probing/EVB result assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage BAW & SAW filter and multiplexer product designs and solutions to achieve best-in-class performance, size, and cost efficiency.
- Lead the team in designing evaluation boards and RF modules, or portions thereof, to ensure optimal filter performance.
- Define RF front-end architectures, conduct feasibility studies, and manage costs while adhering to aggressive customer development schedules and achieving top-tier performance.
- Drive design methodology improvements, adherence to best practices, and overall compliance with the Product Realization Process
- Coordinate activities within a section or department, taking responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.
- Contribute to the development of the BAW and SAW technology roadmaps.
- Regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning multiple functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
- Deploy engineering resources effectively, maintain partnerships with different functional groups, mentor team members, evaluate performance, coordinate activities, and support the career development of team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of job experience, Master’s degree with 12+ years of experience, or PhD with 8+ years of experience.
- Demonstrate relevant technical and leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of cellular RF systems.
- Extensive experience in acoustic filter designs, PA/LNA filter co-designs, or multi-chip module (MCM) EM simulation.
- Proven project management and talent management skills.
- Established leadership abilities, including engaging and motivating engineering talent, defining and setting deliverables, planning resources, managing schedules, driving design methodology improvements, and achieving desired results.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $166,600 - $333,100 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
