Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Collaborate with experienced engineers to design and develop RF filters for multi-chip module applications.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve design efficiency and streamline engineering workflows.
- Design BAW- and SAW-based duplexers, quadplexers, and other RF filter solutions for cellular handset applications.
- Perform electromagnetic modeling and simulation of filters within their module environments using industry-standard tools such as Ansys HFSS, Ansys Mechanical, Keysight ADS, and Momentum.
- Integrate multiple filters, duplexers, and RF switches to support carrier aggregation (CA) and advanced RF front-end solutions.
- Design evaluation boards and RF modules, or portions thereof, to achieve optimal filter and module performance.
- Participate in and present technical findings during design reviews.
- Assemble, characterize, de-embed, and evaluate RF filters and filter modules, and document performance results.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design, modeling, measurement, and technical issues throughout the development cycle.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product development.
Required Experience and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related RF/microwave engineering discipline.
- Available to work onsite full-time (40 hours per week) from June/July through December 2027.
- Broad understanding of RF and microwave components, including performance characterization using Smith Charts, impedance matching, passive tuning techniques, and network parameter analysis.
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic modeling and RF simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, Cadence, Keysight ADS, AWR Microwave Office, or similar software.
- Experience with Python or other programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, C/C++, SKILL, or VBA) for data analysis, automation, scripting, and engineering workflow development is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and break down complex technical challenges.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and execute projects according to established schedules and milestones.
- Experience working in laboratory environments and familiarity with RF test equipment, including vector network analyzers (VNAs), is a plus.
- Self-motivated team player with a strong desire to learn, collaborate, and contribute in a fast-paced engineering environment.
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
