Position Summary
Located in Milpitas, CA, in Silicon Valley, our team is actively seeking a Product/Test Engineering Student Co-Op to support cutting edge products for high-reliability industries (aerospace, defense, medical, extreme industrial). The student should be available to work part-time from January-June 2027.
Team up with product and test engineers to support our product lines, set up automated test equipment, test a wide range of products, and release vital product documentation. This is a hands-on role working with engineers on optoelectronics products.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on device test and characterization.
- Arrange and perform vital testing on production and bench test equipment.
- Summarize and analyze component test data and participate in taking next steps.
- Generate and release optoelectronics product documentation and information. Update product documentation as needed.
- Participate in production ramp-up.
Required Experience and Skills
- Working towards a technical degree such as a Bachelor of Science (BS), preferably in Electrical Engineering, or in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics.
- Basic understanding of electronic BJT circuits, diodes and transistors.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Interest in learning to work with manufacturing equipment (curve tracer, digital multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies, automated testers and production test handlers).
Desired Experience and Skills
- Coursework taken on semiconductor physics and microcircuit electronics.
- Experience with software/hardware integration including calibration and debug.
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
