Job Description
Join our team as a Digital Design Engineer - Summer Intern and contribute to the development of cutting-edge mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) for frequency control, clock generation, network synchronization, and other critical timing applications. As a university student, you'll have the unique opportunity to participate in all stages of the design process, from initial concept to mass production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital System Architecture: Contribute to the design and development of digital system architectures.
- RTL Design: Create and implement block- and system-level RTL designs using Verilog or VHDL.
- Algorithm and Firmware Development: Develop algorithms and firmware for IC functionality.
- Digital Circuit Back-End: Participate in synthesis, timing closure, place and route preparation, scan insertion, and other back-end tasks.
- Firmware Development: Develop firmware for ICs with embedded processors.
- Digital and Mixed-Signal Verification: Conduct thorough verification of digital and mixed-signal designs.
- Documentation: Create detailed documentation for designs and processes.
- Test Vector Development: Develop test vectors for IC validation.
- Lab Testing and Evaluation: Conduct lab tests and evaluations of ICs.
- Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers.
Job Requirements:
- Pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Actively enrolled in a MSEE or Ph.D. program.
- Available to work full-time onsite from May 2025 to August 2025.
- Strong motivation to contribute to all aspects of chip design.
- Working knowledge of digital IC circuit design in an HDL synthesis environment.
- Proficiency in digital verification and testing techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, desire to learn, and team-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with UNIX operating systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with digital design at geometries ranging from 130-22 nm.
- Strong Digital Signal Processing fundamentals.
- Experience with digital IO interfaces such as I2C, SPI, etc.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
