The selected candidate is responsible for the development and implementation of environment, health and safety (EHS) programs. Provide the employees with professional, technical problem solving and administrative coordination of EHS programs, policies and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and coordinate compliance with all occupational safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous material, hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs.
  • Perform and/or assist in industrial hygiene monitoring for the site using California OSHA/Federal OSHA/NIOSH/ACGIH methods to determine employee and environmental safety.
  • Provide technical information on EHS issues on new equipment, projects, method of performing work, and hazard/risk assessments.
  • Conduct or participate in EHS audits of regulatory compliance, site/company program requirement and policy requirements, reporting the results to the site leadership.
  • Provide management assistance in maintaining ISO 14000, RBA Code of Conduct, and certified status and setting goals and targets for all EHS programs having significant impact.
  • Provide non-routine problem solving to departments, engineering and research and development groups through participation in meetings, committees, projects, etc.
  • Prepare and/or assist with composing EHS Regulatory & Agency (OSHA, DHS, etc.), Corporate, and Divisional reports/communications.
  • Review and update EHS documentation, programs, trainings and procedures as needed.
  • Develop and provide specialized training required by EHS regulations to employees.
  • Member of Emergency Response Team for hazardous materials spills which requires 24-hour on call status.
  • Perform duties of a workers’ compensation coordinator; ensures timely processing of workers' compensation claims; evaluates accident reports to determine accuracy and completeness and to ensure adequate investigation.  Assist with return to work strategies to minimize lost time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes is desirable.  The facility is a high-volume manufacturing site that operates 24/7.
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
  • inspecting/auditing hazardous materials management and Cal/OSHA programs including inorganic arsenic, Lockout/tagout, HAZWOPER, emergency response, medical surveillance, and respiratory protection programs.
  • Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions and have good verbal/written communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and converse in English.
  • Must be able to navigate, conduct searches, and complete forms on Personal Computer for the purposes of training, performance management, and self-service applications.
  • Must have the ability to navigate electronic mail systems and intranet for communication purposes.  Basic or Advanced word processing skills.  Basic or Advanced spreadsheet skills.  Basic or Advanced typing skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Education and/or experience bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety or related field. 3-5 years’ experience in the EHS field with specific concentration in OSHA and EPA regulations. 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Physical Demand: May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Working Environment: May be required to occasionally work off shifts such as swing or nights for a short period to support production or safety projects.
  • May be required to travel for business reasons, e.g. support other Skyworks locations, training and meetings.
  • Must be able to work in controlled or clean room environments requiring special gowning/garments. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in these work environments.  Additionally, must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • May be exposed to dust, gases, and fumes. May be around moving equipment and machinery.  May be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn.  May work around chemicals such as solvents, corrosives, and oxidizers that may require respiratory protection.
  • Pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
