Skyworks is seeking a Device Test and Characterization Engineer for our compound semiconductor technology R&D group. As a Test and Characterization Engineer, you will work closely with a group of semiconductor device and process experts in development of compound semiconductor technologies used in the manufacturing of various RF functional blocks for cellular and WiFi applications. This is a hands-on job, using various lab equipment in creative ways to characterize RF devices.  In this role, you will also develop techniques to optimize testing of RF devices in an engineering environment, including operating automated test equipment, setup and tear-down of new test systems, calibration, and diagnostics. Finally, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing our existing lab equipment, the selection of new lab equipment, and providing key inputs into annual capital expenditures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist other engineers with developing new, higher performance devices and device models through wafer-level device characterization.
  • Perform on-wafer advanced RF characterization tests for RF noise, linearity, power, large-signal, self-heating, thermal (pulsed I-V), and low-frequency flicker-noise characterization.
  • Perform RF load pull characterization of devices on a Maury on-wafer Load Pull System. This includes performing system calibration, test fixture development/assembly, and data collection of power sweeps and load pull contours.
  • Establish methodologies/solutions for expanding test development through programming, automation development.
  • Create proper documentation of test results and data collection.
  • Troubleshoot and debug test equipment.

Required Experience and Skills

  • BSEE with 2 years related experience.
  • Thorough understanding of RF test equipment and programming techniques including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, Signal Sources, Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies from various manufacturers.
  • Comfortable doing “hands-on” lab work in an environment with state-of-the-art RF lab equipment, in ESD environment.
  • General knowledge of analog/RF semiconductors (at the transistor level).
  • Knowledge and interest in computer programming to drive automation in measurements and data analysis.
  • Well organized with solid written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Basic understanding of device fabrication process steps, yield analysis and DC/RF device parameters.

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $61,600$111,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
