Job Description

The Factory Automation group at Skyworks in NBP, CA is responsible for developing and supporting all wafer fabrication processes used to produce Skyworks’ diverse portfolio of products.  The group works closely with the IE, IT, EES and with the Manufacturing Operations team to deliver world-class quality products to market. The Factory Automation Group is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide support in responsibilities related to this area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Play a pivotal role in deploying Factory Automation solutions in Skyworks’ NBP fab.
  • Collaborate with Automation engineers, IE and operations team to gather requirements and execute HW/SW installation.
  • Work with the external Factory Automation contractors, IT team and equipment vendors as needed to facilitate HW/SW installation for Automation system on process equipment’s.
  • Support deployment activities of Factory Automation processes including Eyelit, FabGuard, Chemical Tracking, etc. 
  • Maintain current suite of deployments while working with Factory Automation team and others to support enhancements, and additional priorities. Responds to trouble calls, recognize and identify and corrects ongoing equipment faults or errors.   
  • Manage deployed equipment, doing troubleshooting, upgrades, replacements as needed to support operational goals.
  • Coordinate software updates for deployed tools with operations so as not to negatively impact manufacturing goals.
  • Training resource for factory automation systems.  Works with users to support knowledge of system, where possible, to encourage on shift resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate inventory of required equipment to support both deployment and replacement of Factory Automation equipment including all installation peripherals.
  • Participate in fab-wide/Automation specific continuous improvement efforts affecting key metrics such as on-time-delivery, quality and cost. 
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay in tune with industry trends, extend the state of the art and enhance the group’s technical and professional depth and breadth.
  • Build teamwork and cohesiveness within the group, and champion collaboration between engineering groups to improve the wellbeing and performance of the overall organization.
  • Responsible for the procurement of factory cleanroom furniture (e.g. workstations, keyboard holders, monitor arms, production tables, etc), including creating conceptual designs if needed.
  • Lead/coordinate the installation of factory cleanroom furniture with support from other internal groups (Facilities, PE, EES, IE).
  • Support the execution of any Fab tool installation/relocations (e.g. moving wip racks, tables, workstations, small tools) as needed.
  • Conduct scheduled audits of factory logistics and Fab furniture, keeping up-to-date records and coordinating any actions required to address findings.
  • Provide inputs to the CIM/IE teams to improve logistics design, installation/deployment, adoption and utilization.  Raise the flag for potential issues if any are discovered or brought to attention by any factory personnel.
  • Be the primary support for help tickets that involve Production/IE/CIM Fab logistics and drive their completion/closure .
