The intern/co-op will be part of a design engineering group in support of high-volume power amplifier products and sub-systems for cellular handset applications. As a Skyworks MSB employee you have the chance to have a uniquely large impact on the success of the company and the world. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of RF circuit design, analog circuit design and firm grasp of electromagnetic theory. In addition to simulations, the intern/co-op is expected to prototype the design and optimize it in the lab. The intern/co-op is also expected to support transition of the design from concept to full volume production. 

The intern's responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
  o Working with a senior engineer to design RF Power Amplifiers with matching circuits
  o Co-simulating power amplifier designs with MCM, Co-simulating with extracted EM die models
  o Analysis and optimization of designs with different HBT Epi
  o Performing lab testing using RF test equipment and analyzing/summarizing the data
  o Conducting Design Reviews

Software Tools Used are:
  o Ansoft HFSS,
  o Agilent ADS and Momentum
  o Matlab
  o Excel, Microsoft Office/Outlook

Hardware Tools Used are:
  o Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Digital Receivers, Load-Pull/Tuners, RF Probe Stations


Job Requirements:
  o Currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, graduating no earlier than December 2019
  o Hands on experience in MCM artwork, EM simulation and lab debug and tuning.
  o Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS/GoldenGate/spectreRF and 2.5/3D EM tools such as Momentum, Sonnet or HFSS.
  o Solid understanding of RF concepts such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth and stability.
  o Design experience utilizing high efficiency techniques such as Doherty, Envelope Tracking, etc…
 o Strong lab skills in RF debug and product characterization.
  o A self-starter and team player with ability to learn on the job.
  o Strong desire and commitment to take product from concept to volume production.
  o Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  o Power Amplifier design/ tape out experience
