Job Description

The RF module Co-op should have knowledge of semiconductors, analog circuits, RF design fundamentals, wireless systems, and introductory electromagnetics.  The candidate should understand basic IC building blocks like PA, LNA, mixer, switch, bias, bandgap, LDO, op-amp, etc.  Understanding of design parameters like gain, noise, non-linearity, S-parameters, stability, etc. is required.


Exposure to a lab testing setup and environment including commonly used test equipment like network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, frequency generator, noise figure meter will be useful to perform the required job. The Co-op should have used a design tool like ADS/HFSS/AWR/Cadence and be familiar with CMOS/bipolar/SOI devices and models. Use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required to perform job duties successfully. Position requires good communication and presentation skills.

The candidate will work with a mentor and have the following job responsibilities:
- Module level EM simulations using HFSS/Q3D or equivalent
- Block level design and simulation for simulation vs measurement correlation
- Tuning RF front end modules in lab (PA/LNA/PA/Filters/SW)
- Evaluating RF parameters like S-parameters, Pout, PAE, ACLR, NF, IP3, P1dB etc
- Impedance tuning using Smith Chart
- Validation & characterizing performance across supply, temperature & frequency
- Creating compliance matrix against spec, plotting results and presenting results summary


Job Requirements:

- Candidate must be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) BS or MS program
- Preferred be able to commit to Co-op term of January - June 2023
