PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The candidate must be a highly motivated individual who will play a key role in the GaAs wafer fabrication facility. Sustain production processes and tools in the Thin Films area. Drive continuous improvement projects to minimize processing issues and improve productivity. The potential candidate will have intimate knowledge of SPC and its role in wafer manufacturing. Key responsibility will include Cp/Cpk improvement of all critical processes. Conceive and plan cost reduction projects, while ensuring quality products. Qualify new tools for production, including documentation, training and certification of operators/technicians. Work closely with the Advanced Process Development group on future technologies.


The Process Engineer will be responsible for sustaining the production processes and tools for Newbury Park’s 24 x 7 operations. Having wide-ranging experience uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Always exercises good judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining desired results. Must be able to work in fast-paced operations with the ability to handle several challenges at the same time, have excellent organizational, project management and people skills. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and provides guidance to other personnel.


• Intimate knowledge and experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication processes and tools in PECVD/CVD

  • Specific knowledge and understanding of Novellus Concept One PECVD tools
  • Specific knowledge and understanding of AST Rapid Thermal Processing tools
  • General knowledge of photolithography and dry etch

• Process sustaining expertise in a wafer manufacturing environment
• Process characterization and optimization using DOE methodology
• Statistical Process Control
• Outstanding communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, written)
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure
• Knowledge of M/PCpS or Six Sigma and FMEA desired

Educational/Job Requirements:
BS degree in EE, ChemE, Material Science or related field.
Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in Semiconductor Environment

(2) Manufacturing Execution System (e.g., PROMIS, Native PROMIS)
(3) Quality system Software (e.g., QSI)
(4) Statistical software (e.g., SPC, Encore, Jump, SQC, Data Power)
