Position Overview

As an Industrial Engineering Manager for Skyworks Solutions Inc. fabrication (FAB) facilities located in Newbury Park California and Woburn Massachusetts, you will play a vital role in the company’s strategy optimizing capacity, engineering and production processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the smooth operation of the facility. You will lead a team of engineers driving change, implementing new processes and best practices by collaborating with various departments.

 

Position requires candidate to be onsite at either the Newbury Park, CA or Woburn, MA offices.  

Job Description

  • Lead, coach & mentor a high-performing IE team. Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and identify training needs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, production data, performance metrics, and operational parameters to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Make data-driven decisions to optimize yield, cycle time, and overall fab performance.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of manufacturing capacity models, smart manufacturing transformation strategy and recommend solutions and resources needed to execute and deliver on those strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional & Global teams, including production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and coordination of activities. Foster effective communication channels and build strong working relationships.
  • Work closely with finance & procurement departments to manage the capital expenditure process. This includes the development of investment proposals, evaluating the ROI of projects, tracking project costs & ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting lean manufacturing principles, driving waste reduction initiatives, and implementing best practices across the fab. Encourage employee involvement and engagement in process improvement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, evaluate existing workflows, and develop strategies to enhance OEE, reduce costs, and increase throughput
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards. This includes defining project scopes, setting objectives, allocating resources, and managing project timelines.
  • Implement and oversee the automation of models, such as production cycle time forecasting, capacity planning, and optimization algorithms. Leverage advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to improve decision-making and operational efficiency. Develop and implement efficient data collection techniques to gather accurate and relevant operational data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize the layout of equipment, workstations, and production lines. Ensure efficient utilization of space and resources while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Serves as the technical guide on specialized projects or programs; acts as advisor to management and/or customers on topics related to Industrial Engineering and Continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions. Ensure consistent implementation and adherence to established procedures.
  • University partnership & building a solid internship program to grow our future talent pipeline.
  • Travel on quarterly basis for one to two weeks in duration.  

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field. A solid technical foundation in semiconductor manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Industrial Engineering, operations, supply chain or manufacturing roles within the semiconductor industry. Prior experience in a managerial or leadership position is required.
  • Proficiency in AI/ML, data analysis and statistical tools. Familiarity with process simulation software, optimization tools and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Proven track record in successfully managing complex engineering projects from initiation to completion. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate and inspire a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present ideas and solutions to stakeholders at various levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset. Ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Proactive approach towards driving continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement frameworks.
  • Knowledge of smart manufacturing principles, methodologies, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines. Resilience to handle challenges and adapt to new technologies and processes.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $126,500$241,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
