Description
Skyworks is seeking a full time Sr Test Automation Engineer for our Ottawa, Ontario, Canada location supporting WiFi products. As a key contributor you will work in a team-based environment with other talented test engineers and work cross functionally with our Product Engineering and Design teams to develop complete and innovative test solutions.
The primary goal of this position is to develop Automated Test Equipment (ATE) solutions for highly integrated RF modules, to support our volume and cost goals. Develop, analyze and maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release. Compile and assemble software from source code and ensures tools are stored in source control. This includes developing tests solutions focused on probe, package, and characterization testing. Prepare test and diagnostic programs. Support developers for software package registry and delivery.
The mission of this position is to understand manual operations in design verification Engineering, Project Engineering and Test Engineering, establish operational procedures, and then design automated systems. Work with others to complete analysis, evaluation and to implement process improvements. This involves creating requirements and functional specifications and instructing developers.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of next-generation RF products through robust test strategies and seamless deployment to global manufacturing partners. The position must ensure that programs are in compliance with standards for good laboratory practices (GLP), good manufacturing practices (GMP). May be responsible for setting the parameters and testing customer samples.
Responsibilities
- Development of automated RFIC ATE test solutions for NPI and high volume manufacturing.
- Execute automated test strategies for improvements of yield, test coverage, quality, test platform conversions and test cost.
- Thoroughly discuss with Project Engineering team, Design Test Verification/Validation team, Test Automation team, and Test Engineering team members to understand current operations, and be able to propose and reach agreements with users on timely system solutions.
- Ability to create project schedules, manage progress, and report regularly.
- Ensure successful and efficient transfer of test solutions to manufacturing sites and subcontractors.
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in CE, CS, EE, or closely related field with 5+ years’ experience or MS degree
- Programming proficiency in C++, C#, Java, Python, SQL, yaml, VS Code, etc... on multiple platforms (Unix/Windows)
- Experience with Git, GitHub and the use of AI
- Knowledge of various servers, storage, networks, and databases
- Experience in developing high volume package and wafer probe RFIC solution on ATE platforms.
- Semiconductor IC communication protocols - MIPI, I2C, SPI etc
Ability to promote work in collaboration with different department - Ability to explain things clearly and accurately.

Desired Experience and Skills
- Experience in developing test solutions on RF PA, LNA, Switches, Couplers and Multiplexers.
- Worked with instruments such as power supplies, DC meters, VNA, RF signal generators, RF spectrum analyzer , RF tuners and power meters.
- Knowledge of RF wireless standards such as WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, etc.
- Automation system development for semiconductor test equipment like Cohu RedDragon & Advantest 93K ATE platforms
- Familiarity in the operation of semiconductor IC handlers and/or wafer prober
- Experience in transferring test solutions to offshore manufacturing partners. Familiarity in working in Test Automation using GPIB, USB, LXI etc

The typical total targeted cash range for this role is currently CAD $105,160 - $136,785 per year. Starting compensation will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
