Description
This position is for a Principal Systems Engineer in the Diversified Analog Solutions Business Unit (DAS) Division in Skyworks San Jose, CA or Woburn, MA or Ottawa, Ontario design center.

This Wireless RF System position’s core focus will be to drive our understanding of key system requirements for RF blocks such as PA/LNA/Switches/Filters based on evolving standards/regulatory, customer usage scenarios and partner Wireless SoC features. The successful candidate will possess a broad understanding of one or more Wireless Systems as used in Automotive/ IoT products. Our Systems Engineers are responsible for contributing creative ideas towards next-generation product definition and developing system validation demonstrations. This is a highly visible position reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering and involves working closely with Marketing, Design, Applications and Customer/Partner Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
The work will include but not be limited to the following:
- Assess wireless system specifications and act as a technical subject matter expert in wireless systems as it pertains to new RF technologies and products
- Analyze RF signal chains using system simulation tools for metrics like Gain, Noise Figure, Linearity, Power Efficiency, and Out of Band Noise etc.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing/Sales/Applications Eng. teams to engage with customers / SoC partners, perform competitive analysis and translate system requirements into next generation product definitions.
- Work with Design engineering team to analyze technical aspects of production definition for future products.
- Conduct system level validation of product performance through simulations, platform protypes, and lab measurements etc.
- Participate in regulatory/standards bodies and present technical material at conferences/tradeshows within an area of coverage and act as a conduit between Skyworks and external subject matter development.
Required Experience and Skills
- BSEE with 10+ years’ experience or MSEE with 8+ years’ experience with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Exposure and knowledge of one or more wireless standards Cellular/WiFi/BT/LPWAN/UWB as it pertains to impact of requirements for RF products.
- Prior experience developing wireless sub-systems in products utilizing simulation tools such as ADS/SystemVue/equivalent.
- Must be comfortable working in the lab with equipment such as signal generators, network analyzer, and spectrum analyzers.
- Prior experience with developing and debugging aspects of RF hardware, associated mixed-signal components, programming and wielding wireless SoCs is desirable.
- Coding and programming skills (Python, C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, Labview or similar desired).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team setting with people of complementary skills and backgrounds.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $139,100 - $278,300 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
