Description

This position is for an Summer/Fall Co-op Starting June/July (6 months) working on RF modules and acoustic wave filters at Skyworks' San Jose Design Center. You'll be working as part of a team of RF professionals creating the technology for next-generation cellular handsets and other wireless communication devices and applications. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley in Northern California, San Jose is a dynamic and innovative city known as the capital of technology and entrepreneurship. Your job function will focus primarily on the design of acoustic filters, including SAW and BAW technologies, for RF front-end modules.   

Responsibilities

  • Design acoustic wave filters for integration into RF modules while meeting demanding schedules, best-in-class performance targets, and critical size and cost requirements
  • Follow Skyworks' best engineering practices to ensure reliability, sustainability, and delivery of high production yields
  • Drive new architectures and ideas to continuously improve filter and module performance, maintaining a competitive edge for Skyworks products
  • Conduct design reviews and present quantitative data to demonstrate compliance with internal or customer specifications based on simulation and measured results
  • Work closely with module and systems teams to set appropriate goals for filter performance criteria
  • Interact with technology and fabrication teams to ensure continuous performance improvements and to steer BU roadmaps
  • Drive design methodologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and first-pass success

Required Experience and Skills

  • Current student pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering field
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week from June/July - December 2027
  • Must be able to work onsite at our design center in San Jose, CA

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Basic hands-on experience with RF and/or electrical equipment
  • Experience with scientific programming using MATLAB and/or Python
  • Ability to process, cleanse, and validate the integrity of data to be used for further analysis and experiments
  • Familiarity with statistics, machine learning techniques, algorithms, and optimization
  • Knowledge of RF concepts and circuit simulators (e.g., ADS)
  • Knowledge of FEM tools, such as ANSYS HFSS and/or COMSOL
  • Knowledge of BAW resonators or RF MEMS resonators is a plus

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
