Description
The Skyworks San Jose Design Center is an ideal destination for motivated individuals with a strong desire to experience and become a part of what it takes to win in the highly competitive and fast-moving RF cellular mobile communications market. With multiple design teams owning product realization from initial concept to final production, the San Jose team offers opportunities to master the skillset in your chosen specialty, as well as to rotate into other specialties if broadening your skillset is your goal. Regardless of your experience level, you will find in San Jose tightly knit teams that operate by the core principles of sharing, openness, collaboration, accountability, and trust. Personally contribute to the realization of world-class products, and see your valuable inputs directly translate into improved design methodology, business culture, and work environment. Join us to experience all aspects of highly integrated semiconductor, module, and embedded RF circuits design, as well as our world-class RF characterization laboratory.
Responsibilities
- The design and development of RFICs for mobile handset applications. The candidate will work with a group of RF IC designers/Analog experts in the development of cellular-band ICs that transmit, receive, and/or switch signals to or from antennas. The candidate will interface with design management and module design teams to create detailed specifications, report design progress, and collect, track, and resolve any performance and circuit design issues.
Required Experience and Skills
- Strong understanding in transistor-level design of Silicon-based RFIC circuits, such as low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) or switches, including peripheral biasing circuitry. Proficiency in optimizing insertion loss, bandwidth, linearity, power handling, noise figure, mode switch timing, and other related parameters.
- Understanding of Silicon transistor device physics, layout, process figures of merit, and advanced linear and nonlinear simulation techniques. The ability to translate between the model, simulation, physical implementation, and the measured performance of a device.
- Solid understanding of RF and microwave engineering fundamentals, including small-signal, large signal, linearity, noise, Smith Charts, load-pull, and impedance matching. Ability to switch between time-domain voltage and current analysis to frequency-domain n-port power analysis.
- Proficiency in simulation CAD tools, including Cadence Virtuoso and EMX. Experience in ADS and HFSS a plus.
- Hands-on lab experience in Analog and RF circuit test characterization and test equipment, such as spectrum and network analyzers, RF probes, oscilloscopes, power meters, and noise figure meters.
- Collaboration and articulate communication skills; key is the ability to break down complex problems, set priorities, report progress, and execute to a schedule. Must be open to regularly interfacing with remote design teams.
Desired Experience and Skills
Preferred Skills:
- Silicon chip tapeout experience from initial design to hardware realization as a Design Engineer.
- Familiarity with RFFE digital control schemes, register maps, and logic tables.
- Basic understanding of Analog bandgaps, op-amps, regulators, precision current mirrors, basic logic synthesis, device matching, layout techniques, ESD, and latch up.
Education and Experience:
- Ideally, BS + 5 years, MS + 3 years, or PhD. For recent graduates, prior industry internship experience is required.
