RFIC/Microwave Design Intern

 

Job Description

In this impactful role, the intern will have the opportunity to combine RFIC design with RF/Microwave electromagnetic simulations to realize advanced SOI switches and other on-chip RF/Microwave front-end components. Candidates will participate in all phases of the development, including product definition, architecture, system, transistor-level circuit design, layout/layout supervision, top level simulations, lab debug and production test support.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a student, enrolled in a university making forward process towards degree in Electrical Engineering, returning to the academic program following Skyworks intern assignment.
  • Familiarity in on-chip MMIC circuit design.  CMOS and other active circuit design experience is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of RF active circuit requirements, including noise, linearity, bandwidth, both small signal and large signal.
  • Strong understanding of microwave/RF fundamentals, such as s-parameters, Smith Charts, matching networks, and transmission lines.  Knowledge in directional couplers, filters, and other passive RF components is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic (EM) simulation CAD tools, as well as hands-on experience with both time and frequency domain circuit simulators, such as ADS (Momentum, FEM), Cadence (EMX, Spectre), or HFSS.
  • Experience and familiarity with RF test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, DC power supplies, and RF probes.  Knowledge of network analyzer calibration and reference plane deembedding a plus.
