Description
Skyworks’s Broad Market business unit is seeking a Director of Firmware Engineering to lead its global wireless engineering team as it moves into the next generation of connectivity platforms focused on higher throughputs, lower latencies and native AI acceleration. As the lead for this team, you will drive the architecture and design of a multi-system firmware spanning disparate domains of control (comms, audio, ai and applications) and drive modularity, testability and scalability into the overall development process. The ideal individual should have prior experience in system architecture, inter-processor communication techniques, device drivers and deep knowledge of wireless MAC and PHY protocols in ISM band. Prior experience developing AI stacks on a compute accelerator along with deploying 1st party models into customer base is a desirable skill. Occasional travel is required. These Skyworks products are targeted at ultra-low latency audio over wireless and other industrial IOT markets wherever low latency and determinism is required
Responsibilities
- Lead software/firmware design and development across US and India locations
- Work closely with senior leadership to plan new product introductions into market
- Drive best practices in software development, CI/CD, bug tracking and development methodologies
- Drive adoption of AI tools for productivity enhancements including agentic flows for coding, debugging and testing
- Push team towards organic innovation and generate IP in the process
- Plan projects and partner with Program Management and deliver on time and with quality
Required Experience and Skills
- BS EE required, MSEE preferred
- 15+ years of experience building, developing, and leading high-performing software/firmware teams
- Experience in embedded software design, development and debugging in C/C++ in a resource constrained environment
- Experience with hardware bring-up and validation and on-chip debug
- Presenting complex engineering topics to broad audience in clear & concise manner
- Act as Project Engineer (PE) at times of the project to drive completion to milestones
- Experience with build tools including make, assemblers, compliers, linkers
- Experience working with AI models integration with customer facing applications using on-device Neural accelerator
Desired Experience and Skills
- Expertise in system design/architecture while leading large organization across GEOs
- Working knowledge of standard hardware protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB) and other BSP drivers (e.g., boot, security, GPIOs)
- Working knowledge of audio interface standards and concerns/pitfalls
- Experience with wireless protocols (upper layers down to MAC and PHY) in the unlicensed band. Knowledge of WiFi and BT is desirable
- Experience with the ARM or RISC-V in CPUs and CEVA or Tensilica in DSP.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $170,100 - $339,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
